At UP, Malou was the sorority's Grand Archon in 1968. After graduation, she worked as executive secretary to the Chairman of the Board of Investments, the Department of Industry and Department of Public Works and Communications.
She migrated to the US in 1985 with her family. Malou worked in Quality Control at Lederle Pharmaceutical Company and retired from her position as Research Document Specialist in the Department of Research Facilities of Pfizer in 2011.
Malou has been the President of the Sigma Delta Phi Alumnae Association, US Northeast chapter since it was founded in 1986. She is fondly referred to as "President for Life". She has actively organized and led several fundraising events to support Kabisig ng Kalahi projects. Among many others are the presentation in Manhattan of "Dance of My Life", a documentary (written and directed by Lydia Benitez-Brown) about Bessie Badilla, the first Filipina Carnival Queen in Brazil, the art exhibit of Ofelia Gelvezon-Tequi, a Sigma Deltan who is one of the most acclaimed artists from the Philippines and the solo concert of Christine Allado who has had outstanding performances in the West End production of "Hamilton", "In The Heights" and "Here Lies Love".
